i know a lot of companies are moving to the hair drug testing. i stop smoking a long time ago (not longer than 6months)but them test can go far way back.

They seem to be reliable and are used in court. If you refuse, the presumption is that you are using. The test costs about $100. If you are going to be ordered to take one and wonder about what the results might be....you can get your own done at a drug-testing lab and see if you pass it. I don't know of anything that really works to help you pass it. If you cut your hair really short, that leads to suspicion too....besides, the roots are what they analyze anyway. They pull a hunk out in several spots of your head....top of crown....back of head....above ear area.

Bottom line....stop using and pray they don't ask for one in a child custody case. If they do, you should require one of the other parent.

Consider this.....drugs on one hand....your child on the other....which do you REALLY want the most? Is your kid worth more than a joint? or a pill? a momentary pleasure or escape?

One thing you should remember is that standardized drug tests require a certain level before they will call it a positive. Additionally, they usually only use the inch or slow closest to your scalp (the newest hair) and since hair grows on average about 1/2 per month, in 4 months the you would be an inch past that. I don't think 2 hits would affect your test, however (IMO) it WAS dumb especially if you knew you were looking for a job :)

You could pull all of your hair out by waxing but the eveidence will still be inside the folicle, just under the epidermis of your skin. If you did THAT, it would just be like carrying a huge sign, stating, that you have something to hide.

They would then go in and take a skin sample from your scalp, where the evidence still remains.

If you DIDN"T pull your hair out, they will discover it on the part of the hair, that was extracted from it's root.

Testing hair for drugs is a more effective way of detecting drug use. If someone is taking drugs then a small amount of that drug will be incorporated into the hair as it grows. Once in the hair it will remain there for as long as that portion of the hair remains attached to you (and indeed even after it is removed eg by cutting or coming out during combing).

This means that it's much more difficult to cheat the system - most drugs can be flushed from your bloodstream quite quickly so that nothing shows up in your pee. But to cheat at a hair test you have to stop taking the drug several months before the test... or at least a few weeks if you have your hair cut really short (and that's ALL your hair!).

Many companies now use hair drug testing on their employees - not only is it more accurate, more difficult to cheat but it is also less of an invasion of personal privacy causing less embarassment

ANYTHING and I mean anything you have put into your system will be recorded in the hair shafts. The only way to not have something show up in a hair analysis is to shave your head.

Usually they will only test you either with a random test or at initial employment. However, from my experience, they will only test you once in a while unless there is suspicion or there was a positive test and they are confirming it. Some companies have drug policies that require employees to have a drug test any time they are injured or have an accident on the job.

My parnter is in the process of applying to be a police officer, for the people who are familiar with the recruiting process, he has passed the written and spoken interview and now he has been called for the drug and health tests which is next week. THC is the hardest to get out of your system when dealing with urine testing. However, shaving his head will not clear him from receiving a hair test they will first go for the head, underarm, chest, arm, leg and sometimes pupic hair. we do this for the family courts in my area. If your friend shaves his whole body this would look suspisious.. Marijuana stays in the system for up to 30 days. The only way it will stay for that long is if he is fat, does no exercise, and eats a lot of fatty foods. The THC molecules in marijuana bond to the fat cells in the body. The less fat you have, the quicker it gets out of your system. Since it goes out of your system through urine and sweat, the more water (the least fatty liquid there is) that you drink, the more you urinate, and the quicker it leaves the body. The more exercise you do, the more you sweat and more THC leaves your body as well. If he's been doing all those things, he should be just fine. They definitely won't do a hair test. Police departments done care that much (I used to smoke with cops all the time) and it is also extremely expensive to do. I wouldn't worry about it.

It's iffy - if you're around enough smoke that you can inhale it %26amp; even worse if you get a contact high from it, you might not pass. There's a percentage they use for their margin of error so if a tiny bit comes through you might be okay, but anything above a certain threshold will fail you. Cross your fingers %26amp; tell the tech that you were exposed at a halloween party - once it's marked down the employer can't hold a small amount against you if you informed them ahead of time. Yes it would work, but I've heard it cost about $10,000 dollars or maybe a little more to do the test, and if anybody wanted something like that over on someone, then they must have more money than sense. Make them prove their test, it's their money, and I would bet they didn't have the test made, and if they did they would have to prove by DNA that the hair was yours in the first place, by DNA testing and you don't have to give them a sample, then they have to show how they came up with the hair in the first place.

Yes it is the most effective test, because with urine it passes out of the bladder and kidneys faster, than with blood, but with hair, it is there until the hair that has absorbed the drug or drugs has been cut, and no more drugs are in the body. Also, if you are in a room with little ventilation or a vehicle and someone else is smoking drugs, the smoke will absorb into the hair as well, and washing it does not get it out, only takes away the odor. this is true, and saliva tests are even harder to pass than hair sample checks since the chemicals are in your lymphatic system much longer than any other place in your body.

Since it is the hair follicle, not hair itself, that holds the THC there is no way "to get it out". Only answer is to stop smoking/consuming illegal drugs. (Not getting into right or wrong of it's legal status, as long as it is on the books as illegal marijuana use will be grounds for refusing employment or terminating employees.) The length of time it stays in follicles is not definite. Bodies metabolize chemicals differently, due to your body fat, diet, exercise level, and amount of use. If you are worried about the baby, call your local Child Protection Services to have them do a welfare check on the baby. If they feel the baby is unsafe, they will take it into custody. I am 17 and my fiance is 20. we have a 2 month old son. Despite what you may think we are mature and responsible parents and our son is everything to us. My fiance lives with his parents right now due to family rules. Hes had a really hard time finding work. Our state is very hard to find a job in which is why alot of people work out of state. he finally got a job 2 weeks ago at walmart. he had a blood and hair drug test last week and the results arent in yet. I know he smokes pot twice in august (before we were back together)and the drug test can detect back that far. So the chance that his test could be possitive is an unfortunate reality. His mom said if its possitive she's kicking him out on the street. I couldn't let him live on the street. We were planning a wedding in May, but my mom says if that happens we should elope. Firstly, just to answer your question about the pot smoking, it's not wether or not they actually detect THC in the blood or hair, it's the the LEVEL of THC found, so if he is a regular dope smoker, he can consider himself unemployed, if there is only a very small level of THC in the sample, that will show only a very minimal amount of use. Why are you so concerned about being married? Is there pressure from your family? If you are in a de facto relationship, it makes no difference, after 6 or 12 months you are still 'legally' declared a married couple. My soon to be ex is a frequent user of cocaine, marajuana, alcohol, and I don't know what else. Him and his girlfriend just OD'd about a week and a half ago on cocaine. I stopped visitation. Now, we have court in a few days for the orders of protection I have filed and also he has requested visitation with our child. So, his lawyer has been told that he has to take a hair follicle test per my lawyer and my instructions.

My question is, has anyone been in a similar situation? What happens if he refuses the test? Will the judge make him? Do those hair detox kits really work?

Well, based on the information given, if he refuses, then he will be denied visitation. Judges are very strict in such a situation. The hair detox test does work. In fact, it can show a substance up until 6 months. He cannot be forced to take the test but, as I said, if he refuses, then he loses !! I hope that this helps.

First and foremost, if you can prove he overdosed and has a drug problem by getting his medical records the rest is irrelevant. The judge can order drug rehab or supervised visitations or even terminate his parental rights.
