Do employers accept saliva, blood test, or hair sample drug tests?

If I offered to pay for one of the above tests instead of taking a urine test, would most employers agree or would they automatically disqualify me?

if 1) you have a really good credible reason 2) they are stupid or 3) they don't care about pot. and, no, urine tests are absolutely ridiculous. marijuana stays in your system 30 days while cocaine only 1 or 2. the only people you're eliminating with it are potheads (if you use harder drugs %26amp; you can't withstand from using long enough to pass a urine test, you should be checking into a rehab not lookin for a job). that's why hair test is much better.

Why would you disagree? Their paying for it.

As an employer who does drug tests, I can tell you that if an applicant made an "offer" like that, I'd think they had something to hide... and I doubt very seriously that an employment offer would be made.

I would think that they would agree seeing as they are more extensive tests. Besides, I think that would be a kind of prejudice if they didn't. You are offering to take a test that you are more comfortable with. That's like them telling you that you have to wear decent clothes that aren't ripped up and faded, but can't wear a polo and khakis because everyone else is in nice jeans and a polo. Follow?

The employer would tend to not appreciate the extra initiative you would take in paying and submitting yourself to such tests, even with the extra information they would gain at no cost.

All employers with drug testing policies are constrained to a host of activities including making sure that the whole firm or department is subject to consistent requirements. This would include drug testing procedures. The biggest reason is the threat of litigation from disparate treatment among protected groups: age, handicap, religion, race, gender.

Something like a hair sample test, I would have taken your results and initiative as a strong sign of an anti illegal drug use attitude. This is not a bad thing, but I would wonder why you wouldn't put your resources/efforts to something a little more fundamental to your personal development or towards getting the job. Something like extra time researching what the firm actually does and looking for possible weaknesses of the company on your own is much more impressive to a hiring manager. I still would make you take the standard drug test everyone else at the firm takes.

Most larger companies would also still make you submit to drug testing by their staff or by a contractor of their choice, and completely ignore your offer and its results.

Good luck!

To tell you the truth when you go for a position you are selling who you are and your credentials, when an employer hears i will pay without them speaking about a frug test, it may throw up a red flag, that you may have somthing to hide. You should let the employer offer or ask you for a test. Most employer require drug tests expect some. If it is required than they will ask you, it is part of the application process. However, if you have had drug progblems and they are aware of it that is a different story then you are showing them you are clean now. Keep in mind no employer can question a disability or disorder unless you have shown you are unable to do your job or can cuase harmfulness to someone else.
