I broke my back in a motorcycle crash around the end of April. I was given morphine for three days and percocet for a week afterwards. Applying for a job at a motorcycle store (ironic maybe) they've mandated that I take a drug test. Not considering the time frame, would the drugs show up in my hair?

I listed some specific info. on this below. BIG reasons WHY a LOT of companies are using hair drug testing are that:

#1: Urine Tests can be falsified (If you WERE an addict, ALL you need to do is find a friend or whoever who ISN'T taking illicit substances to give you some of their urine, you pull it in a vial, tape it discretely to you body and pour THAT urine into the collection cup!)

#2 Urine Tests ONLY show a VERY short span of drug used in the body

#3 Hair tests can reveal a pattern of illicit drug use over 30-60 days

Since you have a VALID reason for taking the meds and your Dr will vouch for that, you shouldn't be concerned AT ALL. I would suggest getting documentation for your Dr. that clearly shows the meds you were taking and what they were RX for.

The drugs will be in your hair up to 90 days. But if you test positive, all you have to do is bring in your medical paperwork, and everything will be OK.

It will but because you have an honest reason to be on those things just tell the testers or the lab people and it should be ok. Besides if they are all bikers too, they may know from experience that you might get issued pain pills like those ones after you crash on your bike.

Even if the drugs show up, I can not see how taking prescribed medications from a doctor would destroy your chances of working there. If you have a problem you should try to get a note from the doctor and the hospital explaining why the drugs showed up.
